00:00:00: Hello, though.

00:00:02: I'm so glad to be with you today!

00:00:08: We're happy that we can do this today

00:00:12: Me too.

00:00:15: It's gonna a good Monday starting it off right.

00:00:18: for me Now its getting better maybe because our Monday is at six thirty in the evening.

00:00:25: You

00:00:27: are so much bigger than

00:00:30: us And we both had a really wild Monday.

00:00:35: Oh my gosh, yeah.

00:00:36: so our work right now is so stressful.

00:00:41: We don't know why but that's life.

00:00:44: So you have to pay your bills.

00:00:46: Yeah we were looking forward for something good because.

00:00:52: Nicole welcome to Goldstein country!

00:00:56: Welcome to Germany

00:00:58: Thank

00:00:58: You I know, you know it's so cool.

00:01:01: My husband has actually played... He is a musician too and he played over there A LOT!

00:01:07: Like i've never gotten to go to Germany but he spent like a lot of time in there And she loves it.

00:01:13: He LOVES germany.

00:01:15: Dying To Take Me.

00:01:16: So i hope that we get to come play some shows there soon.

00:01:21: We hope

00:01:22: too!!

00:01:22: So we checked out your music Nicole.

00:01:26: What can i say?

00:01:26: Christine its our wife.

00:01:28: It's absolutely,

00:01:30: it is our vibe.

00:01:33: Sometimes you listen to music and sometimes feel the music.

00:01:38: Thank You!

00:01:39: That means so much to me really.

00:01:43: My goal for people are that they can feel it because I still cry when i listen to certain songs.

00:01:53: That

00:01:54: sounds great.

00:01:58: So we have some questions, Nicole also about music your career and all this stuff.

00:02:03: And at the end so a little quick game which I say like they're so.

00:02:12: so I haven't my own category.

00:02:13: it's Nikki is quickies.

00:02:15: We put it in so that we have something special for Instagram or something.

00:02:20: So the first question we had, Nicole is how did you growing up in Wyoming shape your sound and storytelling as a country artist?

00:02:29: Yeah well I grew up actually in Montana.

00:02:35: yeah Montana because

00:02:37: it's the title

00:02:38: of your EP.

00:02:42: And yeah, I mean growing up in a place like that it's just you're inspired by everything.

00:02:49: I grew up on the mountains and so its beautiful.

00:02:52: So not only are you inspired by nature but your also inspired by kind of rough terrain or lifestyle because we get really long winters with a lot snow.

00:03:08: You kinda see first hand the dark seasons, and then the light season.

00:03:16: And just like life it was very metaphoric to live growing up there Months of no sunshine and then being able to have the sunshine.

00:03:29: it was like, same thing that highs in the lows life.

00:03:33: But I'm such a storyteller naturally i think with my music...I've always just wanted to relate people into stories about my music..i think we can all relate on so many levels.

00:03:45: even if you're living in germany or me growing up in montana We probably had some things related to how we look at our lives.

00:03:55: But I've always just wanted to be somebody as a musician that relates to people and like lets them know they're not alone.

00:04:02: And we all can relate, so for my music um... That was heavily inspired by how i grew up in Montana.

00:04:12: obviously My whole project is about that Just kind of introducing people To me As a kid In montana ,in the mountains You know enjoying God's country, being outside outdoors and enjoying life that way.

00:04:27: It was such an inspiring way to grow up.

00:04:29: so...

00:04:31: So is it whitefish where you

00:04:32: grew?

00:04:33: Yeah!

00:04:34: White fish yeah

00:04:35: okay I was there.

00:04:36: i drove there so many times in Wyoming and Montana for my vacation because a lot of yellowstone then the Glacier National Park all these stuff yes and whitefish.

00:04:47: so I drove this main street with with all these buildings left and on the right side.

00:04:55: And I took my hubby, so

00:04:59: look

00:04:59: how beautiful are these apartments over there?

00:05:02: So they have a special style!

00:05:04: They're little dark like mountains sort of everything you put in.

00:05:11: So it's nature.

00:05:12: you live in the nature and to put all your lifestyle And all the houses so on that.

00:05:16: In the same style, though That's what I like

00:05:19: reflects each other.

00:05:20: yeah likes Yeah Like each other.

00:05:23: but that's so cool.

00:05:24: You've grown up there?

00:05:25: That was my main street growing up, you know

00:05:29: There

00:05:32: wasn't a Starbucks when iIwasthere.

00:05:34: When

00:05:34: i was

00:05:35: there was nothing.

00:05:37: we only had um a Dairy Queen and the McDonald's.

00:05:41: And there was one local coffee shop called Coffee Traders, which I don't know if you read it but when i've been gone now for like ten years um... But when I was here we had to drive thirty minutes to get any kind of big store like Costco or Walmart.

00:06:04: But yeah, I think it's so funny.

00:06:06: It's changed so much since Yellowstone the TV show discovered Yeah exactly.

00:06:13: So

00:06:14: i check the prices of the buildings?

00:06:17: So it's expensive right now but...so its beautiful over there!

00:06:22: I really love that but

00:06:24: cool!

00:06:24: I want to live in there again but like Right Now There is no way for me to afford to live there.

00:06:30: Absolutely I think it's about Yellowstone, so the same when you visit Yellowstone.

00:06:38: It was ten or fifteen years ago my first time over there and You paid a hundred bucks for hotel in West Yellowstone And now you pay for the cheapest one five hundred bucks each night.

00:06:51: So for a motel not higher than that Actually apartment.

00:06:58: Yeah, so

00:07:00: the same thing happened in Nashville because there's a TV show called Nashville and it's all about Nashville.

00:07:06: And when that came out?

00:07:08: All of a sudden everyone was moving to Nashville.

00:07:11: Wow

00:07:14: like people just want to go where.

00:07:16: Obviously both places are really great.

00:07:18: So I get it.

00:07:21: So Krusey, it's up

00:07:30: to you.

00:07:31: Next question?

00:07:33: Yeah so when did you move to Nashville?

00:07:35: I

00:07:37: moved...

00:07:38: Gosh!

00:07:38: It has been a long time about twelve years ago now.

00:07:41: Oh wow!

00:07:44: My story is kind of weird but basically i graduated high school and did online homeschooling.

00:07:53: I decided, i was already doing music like playing shows.

00:07:57: And so I decided I wanted to move uh...to go to school in South Carolina So across the country from where I was.

00:08:05: Um..I don't know!

00:08:06: I just picked it and It was

00:08:08: fine!!

00:08:08: I went for one year and then I was like hmmm.... I don't think I want to go college.

00:08:13: instead I just wanna start playing music and writing music and trying do that For a living.

00:08:20: I ended up moving across the country again to Los Angeles, which is why.

00:08:25: Oh wow

00:08:26: what a ride!

00:08:27: Yeah it was wild and we drove me in my college with our best friend.

00:08:31: We drove cross-the-country together And we drove back to los angeles and i moved In.

00:08:37: um...I actually had family out there.

00:08:38: so I moved in With family

00:08:40: okay

00:08:41: like My cousins and you know grandparents and everyone Was There.

00:08:45: So after I got there It wasn't very long, maybe three months later I actually signed a record deal.

00:08:53: I was only eighteen almost nineteen at the time and um...I got offered to deal in The Christian Music World And i didn't necessarily want do christian music but when you're eighteen someone's like we wanna sign you!

00:09:09: You are okay.

00:09:10: so And it was a great experience, but really just solidified to me that I wanted to do country music.

00:09:20: So actually about two weeks into my first tour on the label i met guy at festival and he lived in Nashville!

00:09:38: He was really persistent and we ended up talking that night in the hotel lobby for like three hours.

00:09:45: And he asked for my phone number, in front of all my friends...my whole band!

00:09:50: So I had no choice but to give it him.

00:09:53: We started talking.

00:09:55: eventually i made a decision to move to Nashville and start doing country music out here.

00:10:03: About six months after I moved, we got engaged and then six months later... Wow!

00:10:11: That's a cute

00:10:12: story.

00:10:13: So you can blame him for the actual move?

00:10:19: Do believe in something like Destiny?

00:10:22: Definitely

00:10:25: Yeah, so like the butterfly

00:10:27: effect

00:10:29: when this

00:10:30: thing didn't

00:10:36: happen.

00:10:36: And now you're Nashville?

00:10:37: My grandma lived in Nashville for about thirty years and I moved to Nashville with her.

00:10:44: It was

00:10:46: really cool because we had never gotten to know each other that well And so I got to know her really, really well and then she ended up getting cancer.

00:10:58: It was such a good thing because we get to know each other very well.

00:11:02: She passed away about three years after i moved So it's cool that I spent too much time with her.

00:11:10: Being here became an important person in my life Not only for him but also herself Pointing me here, you know.

00:11:21: Yeah

00:11:21: I feel that so much.

00:11:23: i feel it's so

00:11:24: much absolutely yeah.

00:11:25: What a story oh my god?

00:11:28: Yeah

00:11:30: But sometimes i think its little but little more easier when you already know someone somewhere.

00:11:38: I had the same situation with one of my best friends, she was living in Amsterdam and there wasn't an Amsterdam a lot of times at start.

00:11:47: My business is so much easier And your more confident if you knew somebody

00:11:53: over

00:11:53: there?

00:11:54: Definitely!

00:11:55: i would have done it but im scared to do.

00:11:59: But you already did so many crazy things, moving from here to here.

00:12:04: So we have to be very brave actually.

00:12:08: Yeah my parents they are both entrepreneurs and they both own their businesses And They really instilled in me and my brother and sister To just be brave and independent and face your dreams.

00:12:22: I honestly wouldn't be doing music if it wasn't for how supportive they've been in life and just telling me that's possible.

00:12:32: The people who win are the ones don't give up, right?

00:12:35: You have to keep going!

00:12:38: So...I would not be here without this for sure but I think bravery comes from them.

00:12:45: But do you ever wear on a point when your career said

00:12:51: Oh, yeah.

00:12:52: I mean many times i've trust me we have probably a bi-monthly breakdown.

00:12:59: I feel

00:13:01: that!

00:13:02: I was...I had my business for twenty years and just gave up one month ago to work for big hotel company here because it's..i think is....I don't know where.

00:13:17: Sometimes you just have to go or take the road But I feel that yeah, we have so many

00:13:25: You know like change.

00:13:27: I think people are really scared of change but I think sometimes in change We find a new dream and we found a new way

00:13:35: absolutely

00:13:37: for me.

00:13:39: It's I can relate on some levels because I was just only a songwriter for the last seven eight years here in Nashville and Really, just writing for other artists.

00:13:51: I've got about sixty five to seventy cuts with other artists that of songs That i've written And um...I kind of gave up The artist dream for it little bit Because uh..it Was very hard.

00:14:06: Probably

00:14:07: three years ago, I was really just praying a lot for it to become clear if that's what i'm supposed to do.

00:14:15: It is one of those things where the doors started opening without me having try and as songwriter ,I had always felt like they were there but this wasn't when I wanted them.

00:14:36: I've had like decent, you know Success streaming.

00:14:40: Like I have a lot of streams probably like fifty million streams or something.

00:14:44: But you know as a songwriter the money is not in the streams It's in the radio still.

00:14:49: so I was kind of banging my head against a wall like why isn't this working wise?

00:14:54: Why wasn't this happening more You know?

00:14:56: and then when the artist stuff started happening it was like all these doors start opening And i realized Maybe My dream was gonna look different maybe i was supposed to do the artist thing and since I've been doing this, it's almost like I found my joy again.

00:15:15: The thing that I love is really scared for a while.

00:15:20: so now that we're taking it's like all of a sudden i have this breath of fresh air and I'm becoming who was supposed to be the whole time, but do you think timing is everything

00:15:34: absolutely.

00:15:37: And we only had these one live so that why start podcast?

00:15:44: so we both can't sing So, but we have a passion.

00:15:47: We love country music and we love the artists in all these stories.

00:15:50: behind will offer you storytelling songs And

00:15:53: yeah

00:15:53: so it's always like yours.

00:15:55: That's why we love this business.

00:15:57: or that's where we stop is these postcard podcast?

00:16:00: And there are also our dreams to connect with you guys into share your stories With other people especially with the German community, because it's bigger and bigger right now here in Germany.

00:16:18: Leave your dream!

00:16:19: Doesn't matter what it doesn't matter.

00:16:23: What happens.

00:16:23: enjoy

00:16:24: every

00:16:24: second of that.

00:16:26: I'm thankful about your doing this because This is so cool like we're talking.

00:16:30: Yeah,

00:16:30: you sitting and yeah You're sitting in there should be sitting here in North Germany,

00:16:34: sir

00:16:51: Chrissy, next question.

00:16:52: What do you think?

00:16:54: Yeah it's your turn Nikki.

00:16:56: My turn oh my god I don't have one.

00:16:57: so sometimes we have all these... So we have a few questions over here but sometimes

00:17:05: everything

00:17:05: works in the conversation and that is what we like more.

00:17:10: And i'm always like hmm yeah personal perspective.

00:17:16: i asked the question and nicky is uh yeah she's prepared.

00:17:24: I'm always like let's talk a few minutes, then the questions come to my mind.

00:17:31: so

00:17:32: we like this spontaneous stuff because it feels more comfortable for you

00:17:40: than us.

00:17:43: Actually, we don't want to talk with the people.

00:17:45: With a regular questions like what's your favorite Mia?

00:17:49: That's her album.

00:17:50: We do it also But actually we want to make it more personal.

00:17:55: yeah Do

00:17:55: you wanna make them mix so that you can present your music and then we can show you personality?

00:18:01: So because

00:18:02: that's why

00:18:04: I found all the time you artists because on TikTok or Instagram when I see something special so then these people catch me.

00:18:14: So it can be the music, Or It Can Be Something Crazy.

00:18:18: You Was Talking!

00:18:19: So i saw your instagram video When You Were Walking In The Mountains and that's what

00:18:25: I love

00:18:25: Because I have this passion too with this travel thing And Music.

00:18:30: So these bows together is my special one.

00:18:36: I'm going back to play shows in Montana, July so i'm really excited!

00:18:42: I have probably four or five shows up and down the mountains... Yeah

00:18:47: there's a big event at Big Sky this summer?

00:18:53: Yeah,

00:18:54: it's awesome.

00:18:56: You should put that on your list too because that is beautiful!

00:18:59: Yes

00:19:00: I saw online and the kitchen was really nice.

00:19:07: It's Zach Topp & Chris Stapleton headlining this year So there will be a great

00:19:13: one.

00:19:13: There also won Riley Green so I'm a

00:19:17: Riley fan.

00:19:24: But we saw Zektopp this year.

00:19:26: He was in Germany at the C to see festival and We love zektopp really his life.

00:19:36: Yeah, he's a good dude And he's fun.

00:19:38: He likes two-step and we've been in Nashville two step together a couple times.

00:19:47: My dog is right here wanting.

00:19:51: I got a dog too.

00:19:53: Hello

00:19:53: from Germany!

00:19:55: What's his or her

00:19:56: name?

00:19:57: His name is McGee.

00:19:59: Oh, McGee it's so cute.

00:20:01: What kind of dog is that

00:20:03: Nicole?

00:20:03: He's the Boston Terrier.

00:20:06: Okay...I have a Caballet

00:20:08: King Charles Spaniard.

00:20:09: do you know Spaniel?

00:20:10: Do You

00:20:11: Know This?

00:20:12: I actually almost got one of those really yes and then we found him.

00:20:19: I fell in love.

00:20:20: He was only like six weeks old when we got him

00:20:24: and he's actually

00:20:25: a town, an hour away this family.

00:20:29: accidentally their dog got pregnant And they weren't expecting it.

00:20:34: so They were kind of just trying to find good homes.

00:20:38: We're like what take them?

00:20:40: He's like my son, honestly.

00:20:42: Yeah!

00:20:43: It is the same with my dog.

00:20:44: he's like baby and sometimes dogs are babies.

00:20:49: He is literally my baby.

00:20:50: Yeah absolutely yeah.

00:20:54: Pets are always babies.

00:20:55: so...

00:20:57: I love it.

00:20:58: you know i wanted a smaller dog.

00:20:59: that why was looking at King Charles?

00:21:01: because they fit in car or van throw them in with my guitar and yeah

00:21:11: that's true,

00:21:12: good

00:21:12: choice.

00:21:14: Maybe this will be the next dog I recommend him.

00:21:19: Yes honestly one of those dogs.

00:21:21: i think they're so cute.

00:21:22: Yeah absolutely So.

00:21:26: Niki you are your next question?

00:21:28: Ah yes!

00:21:30: What are you most excited about for the next few years when looking forward?

00:21:36: Well, we've got.

00:21:38: this year is gonna be a really big year.

00:21:40: We have two more projects coming out so we had the first EP drop April.

00:21:47: twenty-third.

00:21:47: it came out or twenty fourth I guess and That was huge for me my debut country EP.

00:21:54: So i've had singles up until this point.

00:21:56: but that was like The First Project.

00:21:59: And then we've Got another project Coming Out at the end of July And I'm really excited about this one.

00:22:06: It is very summery and fun, more upbeat kind of spicy because it's a little bit more my story.

00:22:13: so that was his family My mom actually Puerto Rican.

00:22:20: So we've got like these two different worlds.

00:22:25: And so this next EP is kind of embracing more that like spicy.

00:22:30: fun side my mom's side the family and got some really fun songs.

00:22:34: I'm also doing two duets on it, i'm doing a duet with Roman Alexander and then one with Carson Byer.

00:22:42: So you guys will love those.

00:22:44: they're gonna be so good!

00:22:46: Then in October putting out my third project That EPs going to very much A little bit more in-depth and vulnerable.

00:22:57: It's gonna have some of like the things that I've walked through In my life as far as, like ,my lows go.

00:23:05: And so i'm really excited about That!

00:23:07: I feel Like...I'm kind Of trying to just let people know who I am.

00:23:11: So I started out with My hometown & how I grew up.

00:23:14: Then The next EP.

00:23:15: you Know it is More of a fun side of me My mom's crazy spicy Latina side like, hey this is some things that I've been through as a person.

00:23:27: Some struggles and not just lows highs too but...I really want the EP to be something people listen in.

00:23:35: they're okay.

00:23:36: yeah i understand these girls more than dirt roads or

00:23:43: fishing.

00:23:44: she's got some depth.

00:23:46: so thats kind of my goal with them.

00:23:49: So this year is a really big year and then the focus for this years obviously putting out music.

00:23:55: And we are touring but like not as much.

00:23:58: hopefully next year, I just want to play as many shows as i can.

00:24:02: that's my goal.

00:24:03: so...

00:24:06: Wow interesting absolutely!

00:24:10: This mix That's what music makes.

00:24:15: It is like life, I think You have these different shades of life and sometimes you just have to throw it out And talk about or write about it Or sing about it To let go.

00:24:30: Yeah i agree.

00:24:30: and its fun to do a little bit Of everything Like the songs that make you wanna dance And then the song that makes you want to cry you know, cuddle on the couch.

00:24:43: You gotta have all of them!

00:24:44: Yeah so this mix is always perfect match at the end here.

00:24:51: Crazy!

00:24:53: That sounds beautiful!

00:24:55: Absolutely!

00:24:56: Is there something?

00:24:59: What do you want to know about Nicole?

00:25:01: That's a crazy, because my real name is Nicole.

00:25:08: But nobody says this to me!

00:25:10: Because since I'm little kid everybody say Nicky and only my dad when he was angry said Nicole and then said oh my gosh what did i wrong?

00:25:22: And now someone calling me Nicole...I don't listen.

00:25:28: That's so crazy.

00:25:29: And when someone says, Nicky is that I turn around all the time?

00:25:33: That's not

00:25:34: me.

00:25:35: people call me Koli.

00:25:37: Koli sweet.

00:25:39: Yeah,

00:25:40: yeah, that's weird.

00:25:41: Yeah.

00:25:42: They don't know why Nikki never was a nickname for me.

00:25:45: my family calls me Kolee.

00:25:47: My nieces Call Me Aunt Koleee and then my.

00:25:51: I have one niece that called me wo wo.

00:25:55: Do you

00:25:56: do You Know Why?

00:25:57: Well, she couldn't say the C sound like the kuh sound and so we were like.

00:26:03: well Maybe We try Like Woli instead of Coley.

00:26:06: And Then She Couldn't Say The Ly.

00:26:08: So She Just Started Calling me Wo-Wo.

00:26:11: Oh This is

00:26:12: so sweet!

00:26:15: I love it.

00:26:15: It's i told my...I Told Her.

00:26:18: I Said You Can't Ever Let her Not Call Me Wo-wo Because Now That's

00:26:25: My Name My kids are so cute, yeah.

00:26:28: I love that!

00:26:29: No i have a question What inspires you most with your music?

00:26:35: The sad stories or the happy stories Or what do you prefer to write about?

00:26:44: Gosh... That's a hard question..I think I'm naturally pretty deep thinker And so, I tend to want to write the sad songs because i think exploring those feelings comes a little bit more naturally for me.

00:27:05: Um...I don't know!

00:27:06: I think everybody relates to sadness and pain as much that it's true like we go through life everyone knows what grief is a breakup is and everybody knows what, you know losing a friend.

00:27:26: So I think like i said earlier one of the most important things to me is relate with other people but we were created to be relational beings.

00:27:43: so

00:27:46: it's special That I can write about my experience and you can feel it on the same deep level that.

00:27:55: I Feel It because we both understand those emotions.

00:27:59: Yes,

00:27:59: not next us.

00:28:01: so might

00:28:01: i think naturally?

00:28:02: I tend to want to write those songs But I love it when I get a good fun summer.

00:28:10: You know happy song too.

00:28:12: II don't just wanna be sad or gonna Be joyful And bring that.

00:28:15: I Think.

00:28:16: Naturally I'm a pretty positive person through it all and so i do still want to like portray that with my music.

00:28:25: I want people to listen, feel the joy and feel the peace And kind of get both worlds...I always say My job as an artist is To be able to sit with you in your worst moments and In your best moment.

00:28:42: Oh!

00:28:42: I get goosebumps.

00:28:44: Yeah

00:28:44: absolutely yeah.

00:28:46: If I could do both, then i think that I've done my job and used my gift

00:28:51: well.

00:28:54: Yeah... I'm a high sensitive person!

00:28:58: And today the best thing about music is you let people feel something because they push it away and don't want to talk.

00:29:16: Yeah.

00:29:17: They just sit in their cars, listen to a song and start to cry because they feel the songs so much.

00:29:25: And I think that's the most beautiful thing about music.

00:29:29: When someone tells you, yeah Nicole...I let it go!

00:29:37: I cried It felt your song so much.

00:29:39: That is my biggest compliment.

00:29:41: for an artist

00:29:44: got a text like that, couple nights ago and it was my song Somewhere West on my EP.

00:29:53: It's the second to last track.

00:29:55: And she said I just want you know...I was driving home when i put this song on and started crying because thought about leaving town in how I miss every day.

00:30:08: And it just meant so much to me because every time I listened that song, i get emotional.

00:30:14: Because It puts me right back in the place.

00:30:18: That was when I felt those things for first time You know?

00:30:22: and So...I agree with you!

00:30:24: Its'the biggest compliment if someone tells Me that..you Know....i don't wanna make u cry but If you cry in my music It means a lot.

00:30:34: We cry alot at concerts because Our story is wild.

00:30:39: We have Nikki and I, we know each other for almost our whole lives over twenty years right now.

00:30:46: And through so many things her parents passed away my dad passed away My grandmother everything at the same time.

00:30:57: if you listen to your concerts sing a song and

00:31:03: you have

00:31:05: these memories of this person.

00:31:07: You laugh, yes we cried so many times

00:31:10: at Goethe.

00:31:12: Yeah it's a compliment!

00:31:15: For us its therapy?

00:31:17: Absolutely

00:31:18: when someone says can't be music or music is my therapy that's

00:31:23: the truth

00:31:24: because we are crying but also happy at the time thinking back to times we had with our parents and all these stuff.

00:31:35: And yeah, so it's not a bad thing when fans are crying you call everything is good.

00:31:42: So then he did great job.

00:31:46: Well I wrote my first song to process My emotions because like your saying It was the only way that i knew how To get this out.

00:31:58: And so that's cool.

00:32:00: what you said, Chrissy is.

00:32:01: I think if people are able to feel because of my music... That's amazing!

00:32:07: That's incredible and i-I feel honored have the ability in that gift To be able help people

00:32:14: feel it.

00:32:15: Yeah.. I almost start crying.

00:32:20: No don't do like Chrissy.

00:32:22: Please

00:32:22: stop.

00:32:23: Oh no not again.

00:32:27: What a Monday, what a Monday.

00:32:29: Oh
